The Awakening the Dreamer Symposium

Sunday, March 29, 10:00 am to 12:30 pm

*** NOTE: The Symposium is designed to be experienced start to finish, so please plan to arrive a few minutes before it starts.

"The Symposium is the single most profound and effective motivational tool I have discovered to bring people–activists and non-activists alike–into a state of ‘blessed unrest,’ in which they become informed, hopeful, inspired and empowered to commit themselves to action towards a more just, sustainable, fulfilling world."
~ Zo Tobi, Organizer for Sierra Student Coalition

The Awakening the Dreamer Symposium is an experience that will kick the ReEnergize Texas Summit into high gear. Through dynamic group interactions, leading edge information, and stirring video featuring Van Jones, Majora Carter & others, we will reconnect with our deep concern for our world and its inhabitants, and become inspired and empowered to find our role in the turning of the tide.

The aim of the Symposium is first to wake us up from the dream of the modern world, a dream that has proven so destructive to the planet, its inhabitants, and even our own sense of fulfillment…and then to inspire us to step consciously into a new dream: the pursuit of an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling and socially just human presence on this planet.

Designed with the collaboration of some of the finest scientific, indigenous and activist minds in the world, the Symposium explores four questions:

  • Where Are We? – an examination of the state of environmental, social and personal well-being;
  • How did We Get Here? – tracing the root causes that lead to our current imbalance;
  • What’s Possible for the Future? - discovering new ways of relating with each other, with the Earth and looking at the emerging Movement for change; and
  • Where Do We Go from Here? – considering the stand we want to be in the world and our personal and collective impact.
